Gemini - The Twins

Gemini is the third sign, ruled by the planet Mercury, the quicksilver messenger God of our zodiac. It’s from Mercury that you get your clever mind, your superb powers of persuasion, your often restless spirit and your (sometimes insatiable) need for mental exploration.

The mythological Mercury was a trickster, a silver-tongued talker who could bargain with clever logic. Fleet of foot and freedom-loving, Mercury had wings on his feet and liked to use them, forever flitting from one place to another. You like to use the wings on your feet too and you don’t like to feel hemmed in. At any social gathering, you have to be free to mingle.

Mercury traditionally rules over barter and trade and our signposts and highways, in more modern day he still rules our roads and motorways, as well as the cars we drive on them and the signposts that guide our way. Our postal service, telephone systems, schools and shops all belong to Gemini, and there are many of you sharp-witted folk employed in those areas.

The mode of Gemini is mutable, which means you’re adaptable and changeable. Unlike our fixed friends of the zodiac, who like to keep things the same, you positively thrive on variety and change. This can make you something of a Jack of all trades, you learn quickly and bore easily, forever adding to your knowledge. It’s likely that you’re a veritable mine of information.

Not knowing or not understanding can equate to worry or actual suffering for Gemini. You can sometimes live on your nerves and you find the unknown a fearful place. You grow in strength as you grow in understanding, while the more you know, the more information you have to share and the more secure you become.

There are many myths of twins and usually one is alive on the earth while the other resides in the underworld, sometimes they exchanged places. Your Gemini mind can be in two places at once and you can sometimes be easily distracted. However, no other sign can multi-task as effortlessly, nor as efficiently as you!

Being an air sign, people experience you like a breath of fresh air You get along well with the other air signs, Libra and Aquarius. You also get along like a house on fire with the fire signs, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

You can find yourself feeling stifled or smothered by too much earth, people with lots of Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn. Or you can feel suffocated by too much water, the signs of Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces.
